True Grit at Connell Hill’s SJI Horse League
It was good to see riders full of enthusiasm and true grit as they got the bit between their teeth and turned out in style to compete at the 2nd league date of this SJI Horse League at Connell Hill enduring the most unfavourable weather conditions. This most elite of all sports demands dedication with behind the scenes hours of patient hard work appreciated by those doing exactly the same. The relaxed environment saw true grit and dedication for riders up and on the road early for the first classes of the day with double clears in the 90 cm class for Noel McKee on ‘Keeford Sundance’, Robert Newell on ‘Sligo Cavalier Lass’ and Kevin Mackey on ‘Neat Moonshadow’. As the competition grew Noel then went on to jump double clear on ‘Keeford Sundance’ in the 1.0 m class with Angie McKeown on ‘Pennys’ Lagan’. The fences moved up for the 1.10 m class with Alison McLean on ‘Shilow Natal’ jump a very stylish double clear and Robert Newell, from Stewartstown having as most successful day, also go double clear on ‘RNH Boudiccea’ going on to claim double clear in the 1.20 m class with ‘’RNH Boudiccea’ and ‘Zinniz Roundthorn’.
