Simon Scott’s Hat Trick at Connell Hill’s SJI Horse Show

| November 3, 2013

connellhillThe seventh leg of this Autumn SJI league began damp and chilly but very soon the sun came out and winked as the clouds pushed in bringing the rain, but as the riders were dampened their spirits rose eager to jump fences designed to test their ability over a technical course.  There are three dates remaining before the final on Saturday 30th November with five attendances qualifying competitors for the final.  The first class of the day, the 80 cm class saw Caroline Taylor on ‘Taylors Girl’ jump a super double clear round.  The next two classes, the 90 cm and 1.0 m classes, saw some professional riding skills as double clears were claimed by Ian Moore on ‘Harly Quin’ and ‘Femme Fatal’ Mark Reid on ‘DMS Heartthrob’, and Lisa Corry on ‘Meribel Rock’.  As the day wore on speedy double clears was the ultimate goal as once again the clocks were set to time these next classes as riders were able to cut corners over a first class indoor surface.  Competitors entered the arena jumping exceptionally fast double clears in the 1.10 m class with spectators on the edges of their seats applauding, but winning with a hat trick Simon Scott took all top placings winning on ‘Carnmoneybridge Diva’, 2nd ‘Dullerton Dawn’ and 3rd ‘Carnmoneybridge Sister Kate’, with Janice Dorrans on ‘Dremena Star’ picking up a most deservedly fourth place.  With this in mind Simon then went on taking glory in the 1.20 m class on ‘Dollerton Eclipse’ and 2nd place on ‘Lord Magirr’, what a successful day he had. Then came the 1.30 m class and following the previous tightly faught positions David Taylor took control winning on ‘Americk Anna’ and Ana Desmond on ‘Rollover’ picked up the 2nd placing.
