First Route Hunt of the Season
Saturday 19th October 2013 was the first hunt of the season for Route Hunt at Glebeview Clydesdales, Limavady. 18 horses and riders including 4 visitors left Victor Scots yard at 12.15pm for a short hack along a lane before the first jump of the day a pipe and barrel jump in a stubble field. This was followed by deep and wide water filled ditch which was not for the faint hearted. The next jump was rustic poles in a hedge before the first water crossing of the day which was a stream.
This was a taster for the river crossing that lay ahead. There was then a hack on the road before heading onto the forest path along the river. On leaving the forest all enjoyed a good canter before another laneway hack. It was then another rustic pole jump before another laneway which lead into some rushy ground where all enjoyed a good canter after a number of jumps. The last canter of the day was across 2 stubble fields with two small dykes and a drop jump finishing of the excitement for the day. The hunt then hacked back to Glebeview Clydesdales where everyone enjoyed the soup and wheaten bread provided by the Scot family. Hunt members thank the meet organisers Gerard McCloskey and Ian Holmes for setting up a good days hunting and the landowners who give the hunt the use of their land.
The next Route hunt is at 12 noon on Saturday 26th October. For further details on this or about joining the Route Hunt please contact the Hunt Master (Philip White 07732630963) or the Hunt Secretary (Julie Smyth 077932009899)
