Rebecca Patterson Takes Top Spot at Connell Hill’s GP Horse Show
What an exciting day was had by competitors, horses and sponsors when they attended Connell Hills’ Grand Prix Horse Show on Saturday. The sun shone adding to this most exuberant show with a fast flowing technical course of colourful fences designed by Mr W Crean, which was a huge success attracting competitors from all arts and parts. The car parks and indeed the outdoor warm-up arena was a hive of activity from early morning which excelled throughout the day. The day commenced with the 80 cm class which saw Judith Sossick on ‘Loughview LoLa’ jump a super double clear going on to jump another double clear in the 90 cm class with Clare Spillane-Pattison having a splendid day with double clears also in the 90 cm class on her two steeds ‘Little Task’ and ‘Cor De La’. As we approached mid-day the heat was rising as the competition grew with competitors really setting and achieving their goals of double clears in the 1.0 m class of which were numerous. Half way through the 1.10 m class Lucy Sullivan on ‘Sakinka Magic’ held the lead only to be pipped at the post by Nicole Barr on her appropriately named horse ‘Florida Daydream’ to the dream position of first placing. As the 1.20 m course was set competitors stood by patiently awaiting to walk this challenging course which Rory Lavery on his own ‘Aughwabroc Ruari’ modestly took the prime position of first place and rolling into second place was Anna Desmond on ‘Rollover’ with Shannon MacKenzieon ‘Pit Stop NRW’ picking up third. The last class of this hugely popular show saw ‘Knockroe Deciel Girl’ ridden by Rebecca Patterson, and owned by Olivia Patterson, knock long term leader Marcus Buser on ‘Jedai des Salinel’ into second place in this most exciting 1.30 m jump off final.
