Hi-Jacked Pepsi at Connell Hill

The training shows at Connell Hill are becoming more popular as more competitors are attending to jump colourful competitive courses designed to school horses and test the ability of the rider.  This is where the ground work begins for both horse and rider as the help, aid and guidance is freely given to encourage this sport.  The night started with the 50 cm class with clear rounds from Yasmin Boyle on ‘Spider’ and Maeve Carlin on ‘Sparky’, picking up red rosettes in the 60 cm class were Billie Wilson on ‘Bills Boy’ and Naomi McCavana on ‘Molly’.  It was great to see Leah McLeister back in the saddle again after her leg injury for the 70 cm class, the double clear rounds were Megan Dunseath on ‘Emily’, Julie Robinson on ‘Lynx’, Lydia McLeister on ‘Ollie’, and Beth Boone on ‘Angel’.  England and Scotland took red rosettes in the 80 cm class as Nieve Baker on ‘Clyde’ took red for England and Karen Battey on ‘Joey’, in their debut show, taking red for Scotland with red also going to our local girls Beth Boon on ‘Angel’, Shauna O’Connell on ‘Pepsi’ and Julie Robinson on ‘Lynx’.  The 90 cm class saw Shauna O’Connell, hijack ‘Pepsi’ to jump double clear when sister Tara goes for weekend break.

Training Show for Horses and Ponies continue on Friday nights, at 6.30 pm, 50 cm – 1.10 m classes where everyone is welcome to come along and socialise with a hot snack, tea/coffee/soft drink from the cafe.  Further details contact Gillian on 078 03 178 009 or Grace 077 65 884 254, www.connellhill.com

Dressage Show Day on Saturday 31^st August at 10.00 am, Class 1 – Intro A (2008), Class 2 – Prelim 7 (2002), Class 3 – Prelim 18 (2002), Class 4 – Novice 37 (2007), Class 5 Elementary 57 (2007), entries to Grace on 07765 8842 54 on or before Thursday 29^th August, times by text to Grace Friday 30^th 7.00 – 9.00 pm.

SJI Autumn Horse League commences September, Saturday 7^th, 14^th, 21^st, and 28^th, 19^th and 26^th October, 2^nd, 9^th, 16^th, 23^rd with final on 30^th November, classes 80 cm – 1.30 am starting at 10.00 am.

SJI Autumn Pony League commences September, Sunday 1^st, 8^th, 15^th and 22^nd, 6^th and 13^th with Final on 27^th October, all the usual classes starting at 10.00 am.
