Double Whammy For Alex at Connell Hills Training Show
The Training Show on Friday night was just slightly more ‘fresh’ than the previous few days weather but the heat was still on as competitors arrived eager to get going, jumping tracks in the splendour of the outdoor arena. As ‘training’ is all about fitness, not only horse but also the rider, brushing up on skill and riding technique, strides, take off and landing, turns, confidence and much much more, then where better to ‘school or put into practice’, than at Connell Hill where many have and are taking advantage of this show. Commencing the show on Friday night picking up the first red rosettes of the night was Charlotte McAllister jumping clear in the x-poles class on ‘Timmy’ and then also clear in the 40 cm class. Alex McMaster then had a double whammy jumping double clear rounds on both her ponies, ‘Val’ and ‘Diesel’ in the 70 cm class. The 80 cm class then saw Helen Hoffin, continue her success picking up another double clear on ‘Rachel’ with Laura Millar on ‘Jersey’. Dean Cotton thoroughly enjoying his night picking up double clear in the 90 cm class on ‘Gem’ and then ending the show with a brisk double clear in the 1.0 m class on ‘Polly’. Training will continue next Friday night at 6.30 pm, x-poles, 40 and 50 cm, 60 cm – 1.0 m classes, everyone is very welcome.
