A ‘Rocking’ Start To Summer SJI Horse League at Connell Hill
Thursday saw a glorious start to the Summer SJI Horse League as the sun came out to welcome competitors at Connell Hill, where course designer, Nigel Jess set smooth flowing tracks in the grand outdoor arena. Judge, Katy Saunders set the show off with the 80 cm class which saw Pauline McKeown, from Randalstown, set the standard jumping the first double clear of the day on her own ‘Miss Darcy’. The 1.0 class rocked into action with Shirley Smyth, from Ballymoney, jumping a very athletic double clear on her own ‘Jailhouse Rock’. Nigel then got cracking on the 1.10 m track as riders patiently awaited the opportunity to walk and plan their own course of action taking advantage of the extra scope in this vast arena to make their turns. The sun certainly shone on Noel McKee, from Glenavy, jumping double clear on his own ‘Keeford Sundance’ to then go on and jump double clear in the 1.20 m challenge. Gary Marshall, from Ballymena, then displayed his very talented horsemanship skill winning the 1.30 m class on his own stallion ‘Claudio’. This league will continue on Thursdays during June and July at 10.00 am sharp where everyone will receive a warm welcome, competitors to jump at four legs to qualify for the final on Thursday 30th July, please contact Gillian on 078 0317 8009 or Grace 077 6588 4254 for further details or information.
