Pegus Young Event Horse Competition Continues at Gransha
The Young Event Horse Competition sponsored by Pegus Horse Feeds is running for its second year having been introduced to the Schedule in 2014 at the new RUAS show grounds. Phase I, Dressage will be judged on Wednesday evening by Ireland’s top Dressage Judges, Jean Mitchell MBE and David Lee. Phase 2 will then be judged when the riders take off the saddles and lead their horses in hand for David Mitchell to examine their conformation.
The jumping phase will be judged in the main arena on Thursday morning by Scottish judges Jack and Isobel McGeoch, who have sourced many high achieving Event horses such as, Irish bred, Word Perfect ridden by Chris Bartle to win Badminton CCI**** in 1998.
Hopefully some of the four and five year olds that have qualified to take place in the final will follow in his footsteps. The horses brought forward for qualification have achieved a high standard despite the early stage of their career, they have been carefully produced and ridden sympathetically by professional riders in order to enhance their basic training and to set a firm base from which to carry on up the eventing ladder.
The horses are all bred in Ireland and showcase the variety of excellent breeding stock available throughout the country. Stallions such as Lux Z, Indoctro, Imperial Heights, Ghareeb, Mermus R, Porsch, Lougherne Cashell, Loughehow Guy, Cruising and Master Imp all feature in the breeding of the qualified horses.
