Connell Hill Spring into Easter with their SJI Horse League
As Spring stealthily emerges competitors celebrating the Easter weekend hopped along to Connell Hills SJI Horse League where all enjoyed a smashing days jumping. The combined skill of courses artistically designed, by Mr William Brown, and the meticulous maintenance of the indoor arena and first-rate surface inspired horses, especially the novice, forward promoting confidence. This was indeed a true testament for Julie Steele as, her own ‘Drumrankin Pharrell’, made his debut with a most impressive double clear in the 80 cm class. The 90 cm class then saw double celebrations for Donna Campbell claiming double clears on her own ‘Cleo’ and ‘Philips’ ‘Sarcoville’. The glorious weather certainly put a ‘spring’ in everyone’s step as horses, bouncing full of enthusiasm took the 1.0 m challenge which saw some sensational riding skills captured on camera by Photographer, Caroline Grimshaw, www.carolinegrimshaw.com . And so it was with no fear of the future Olivia McCormack, on her own, ‘Fearless Des Terdrix’ and David Taylor, aboard, ‘Anthony Wrights’ ‘Furisto Girl’ jumped their admirable double clears. As the course was adjusted for the 1.10 m class ‘Song of Charm’ owned and ridden by Nuala McNally was bursting to get going and leaving nothing to chance jumped a tremendous double clear. The echo of previous success was still sounding as June Burgess took to the arena and confidently jumped double clear on her own ‘Harry De Luxe’ and ‘Obos Quality’. This Easter weekend show was drawing to a close with the 1.30 m class which saw Claire Doherty take the poll position on ‘Dinletto RK’ owned by ‘James Bleeks’; and on this splendid note Connell Hill thanked Course Designer, Mr William Brown, Judge, Ms Katy Saunders, Photographer, Caroline Grimshaw, staff, spectators, grooms and competitors for their combined effort in making this a most enjoyable day and wished everyone a Happy Easter and look forward to welcoming everyone back next week; don’t forget final on Saturday 25th April with competitors to have jumped at three league dates to qualify for final.
