Pizazz at Connell Hill’s SJI Horse League

It was a fabulous spring day at the third league date of Connell Hills’ SJI Spring Horse League inspiring riders to jump their challenges with true grit; and with four league dates remaining before the final, on Saturday 25^th April, there is still time to qualify as horses need to compete at three legs to qualify for final.

The day got of to a great start as Stephanie Doherty, from Eglinton, triumphantly jumped double clear on her own ‘Beechmount Champ’ in the 80 cm class.  It was pizazz time as the 90 cm class got under way with  double clears for John McKinney on, Patricia McKinneys, ‘Anjo Fizzy Pop’ and Victoria Nelson on, Angela Nelsons, ‘Jazz Black Jack’.  The 1.0 m class saw double celebrations for Cathryn Hutchinson celebrating her twenty first birthday, from Moneymore, jumping double clear on, Brian Hutchinsons,  ‘SVS Talino’.  Having an awesome days jumping were husband and wife team Grace and Liam McGarry, with their previous success went on to claim double clears in the 1.10 m class, Grace on, Judy Murphys, ‘Javas Patsy’ and Liam on, Judys, ‘Apollo Blu X’.  The 1.20 m class then saw success once again for Liam jumping double clear on, Judy Murphys, ‘Javas Foreign Affair’.  Course designer, Nigel Jess, who had designed and built tracks throughout the day providing spectators with some exhilarating rounds of jumping set the challenging 1.30 m class which saw John Higgins take the honours of first place on ‘KEC Freefalling’ and Liam McGarry second on ‘Javas Foreign Affair’.  Everyone is welcome to join us next Saturday at 10.00 am, classes 80 cm – 1.30 m, which will be held in the spacious outdoor arena.
