Shannon Hammers Home at Connell Hills Spring SJI Horse League

Connell Hill welcomed a large number of competitors to the second leg of the Spring SJI Horse League, which runs next Saturday 21^st and 28^th March, 4^th, 11^th, 18^th and the Final on 25^th April at 10.00 am.  Competitors to jump at three league dates to qualify for the final, and what a final this promises to be if to-days standard of jumping is anything to go by; so with still a few qualifying dates load up, trot on over and join in the competition.  Judith Sossick opened the show with a most sure footed double clear in the 80 cm class on her own ‘Loughview Black Diamond’ and Julie McLernon closed the class with a most classic double clear on her own ‘Freckleton Marinella’.  It was then ‘Lady Day’ for the 90 cm class as Chelsea Robinson jumped double clear on ‘Lorna Robinsons’ ‘Templehill Ludo W Lady’ and Robert Newell double clear on ‘Beechmore Lady Lux’ owned by ‘Collette Doris’.  Connell Hill buzzed with sheer adrenalin as courses designed by Mr William Brown were set testing rider and horse ability to skilfully navigate their way with a successful end result.  This ultimately led to double achievements for Liam McGarry on ‘Judy Murphys’ ‘Apollo Blu X’ and Julie Steele on her own ‘Wellview Lenny’ claiming double clear rounds in the 1.0 m and 1.10 m classes.  It was a victorious day for Shannon MacKenzie ‘hammering home’ with double clear rounds in the 1.10 m and 1.20 m classes on the very prospective ‘Euroquay’ owned by Karen MacKenzie.  The show ended with the paramount of the 1.30 m class and taking poll position was John McLaughlin on ‘Mary McLaughlins’ ‘Javas Wild Child’, taking second was Gareth Clingan on his own ‘Senor D’ and third was John Higgins on his own ‘KEC Freefalling’.  Well done to everyone and thanks to Mr W. Brown for course designing and Mrs J Currie for judging and welcome everyone back next Saturday at 10.00 am, classes 80 cm – 1.30 m.
