Spring SJI Horse League at Connell Hill

Saturday saw the commencement of the Spring SJI Horse League at Connell Hill which runs Saturday 14^th, 21^st and 28^th March, 4^th, 11^th, 18^th and final on 25^th April with competitors jumping at three league dates to qualify for the final.  This first league date saw a large number of entrants turn out immaculately to jump their challenge designed by Mr Nigel Jess.  Popping over the first class, the 80 cm class, claiming double clear was John McKinney on Patricia McKinney’s ‘Anjo Fizzy Pop’.  The ever magical 90 cm class saw Michael Irwin jump a well controlled double clear on Sheelagh Kennedy’s ‘Magic Iroko’.  The course then adjusted for the 1.0 m class saw competitors jump this challenge with energetic enthusiasm all hoping for that double clear which saw Lisa Allen amongst them on her own ‘Ardnacashel Kadabra’.  The then 1.10 m class saw smooth rhythm with control pay dividends as Philip Gaw claimed double clear on ‘Rocky Bond’.  The competition grew as the show moved to the 1.20 m class which saw Edward Little humming success with a double clear on ‘Galwaybay Hummer’.  As the day was drawing to an end to the first leg of this Spring Show the 1.30 m class got under way which saw Patricia Stewart-Greer from Lisburn take the honours of first place on ‘Rehab’ and Gareth Nethercote from Newmills claim second on ‘’Harelquin Bay’.
