Spring is in the Air at Ravensdale Lodge

Week ending 8th February 2015, results Ravensdale Lodge Equestrian & Event Centre.

There was a touch of spring fever in the air around Ravensdale Lodge this week as large numbers of horses and ponies turned up on Sunday last to school in advance of the forthcoming Pony Spring Tour on Saturday 14th February and Sunday 1st March respectively. The 2015 Pony Spring Tour launches at Ravensdale Lodge on St Valentine’s Day where there is expected to be friendly rivalry between these competitive pony riders where large numbers of 128cm, 138cm & 148cm combinations are expected for the seven scheduled classes over two arenas. Two weeks later, on March 1st it is the turn of the horses as Ravensdale Lodge play host to the third leg of the Spring Tour Grand Prix which has been dominated for the past three years by Daniel Coyle and Uptown Girl, indeed this incredible combination has dominated the Spring Tour league winning it for the past three seasons. The superb facilities and surfaces have been put to the test over the past three weeks of this winter / spring run of shows and the surfaces have more than impressed all who have competed on them. Shows continue this week with the last of the four horse training days on Thursday.

This show has seven classes from 70cm to 1.30m and a start time of 11am. Week four of the horse & pony training league continues on Friday and numbers have grown steadily to date. Classes range from X poles to 1.10m in this competition which has a start time of 5.30pm. The Pony Spring Tour comes to town on Saturday and combinations are reminded that the four Pony Spring Tour classes must be pre entered through the SJI office. Indoor dressage makes a return after three weeks on Sunday 15th February after the two SJI registered horse & pony warm up shows. Weekly classes for this indoor dressage league can be found on www.ravensdalelodge.com or through the office and combinations are reminded that entries for this competition should be in the office by 9am on Friday 13th February. Show organisers are hoping that indoor dressage will pick up where it left off three weeks ago as large numbers made for some super classes on week one of this league.
