Super Turnout For Ardnacashel Working Hunter League
Saturday 31 January saw the first leg of its Working Hunter League. After the earlier cold snap during the week we were very fortunate to have no frost and a good dry fresh day! The first class of the day was a heavily subscribed Amateur Performance class. Sonia Kinnear riding her coloured Seamus took first place after a foot perfect round! Second went to Karina McVeigh on Midnight Reflection. Suzanne Glenn riding her dark Bay Twiggy T took third place. Catherine Ross on her the lovely Milo took fourth. Fifth place went to Karen Jeffrey on Junior and Hannah Gracey on Have a Little Faith took sixth.
The Amateur Novice Horse class proved popular and Louise McMinn riding Bravo took the top spot. Second place went to a very pleased Suzanne Glenn again riding Twiggy T, third position was taken by Hannah Gracey on Have a Little Faith. Fourth went Catherine Ross on Milo, fifth to Karen Connolly riding a great clear round on Bonnies Web and finally sixth place to Siobhan Mulligan riding Miss Moneypenny. The Festival Small Working Hunter class victor was local rider Victoria Teuton riding Wendy Monteith’s mare Gleneven Starina, second place went to Sarah Russell riding Mullaghdrin Lass and third place went to Sharon Lappin on Tori. Siobhan Mulligan riding Miss Moneypenny took the red rosette in the Cob Class. Lucy Cunningham riding Wendy Monteith’s mare Gleneven Starina took first place in the 80 cm Festival Working Hunter class.
Sarah Bradshaw riding Kathryn Boyd’s Phoenix took second position, third to Michelle McConnell on Sunday Morning, fourth to Claire Lancashire on Archie and fifth to Sharon Lappin on Tori. The 90 cm Festival Class was won by Sarah Bradshaw riding an excellent round on Phoenix, second went to Victoria Teuton riding Sarah Russell’s Mullaghdrin Lass, third to Jazmin Vollands riding her beautiful mare Pippa, fourth place went to Judith Jackson riding Som and fifth place to Claire Lancashire on Archie. Judith Jackson produced a lovely clear round in the Festival 1m class and took first place followed by Nicole Barr on Master This. Nicole Barr riding Master This took the red Rosette in the 1.10 m class.
The afternoon was the turn for the ponies and it was Ellie McDowell riding Tabita Melody Maker who took first place in the Cross Pole Lead Rein class, Holly Donnan riding Lady Zara took second position and Lucy Donnan riding Donny Darco took third place. The 50-60 cm Performance Class Red Rosette was won by Ellen Douglas riding Jamie, Dillon Torrens on Midnight Skywalker rode into second position, third place went to Holly Donnan on Lady Zara, Lucy Donnan on Donny Darco took fourth and Jessical Mulgrew riding Netherfield Troll took the fifth ribbon. The Festival Cradle Stakes Working Hunter Pony class was won by Dillon Torrens riding Midnight Skywalker. The Festival Starter/Nursery Stakes class Red Rosette was taken by Ellen Douglas riding Jamie. Olivia Mulligan riding her beautiful coloured gelding Riverdale Lad into first place in the 70-80 cm Performance Class. Sophie Ennis riding Coilledearmad William were the victors in the 80-90 performance class and the Festival Mountain & Moorland – Exceeding 138 cm
