Jumping Poetry in Motion at Connell Hill

Connell Hill welcomed competitors to the first of their four Unregistered Horse Shows on Sunday, and what better way to kick off these shows than celebrating the birth of the great Robert Burns, as some of our competitors demonstrated true poetry in motion.  These shows prepare horses for the forthcoming season as riders train, raise fitness levels and get young horses introduced to the world of show jumping.  The first class of the day, the 80 cm class, saw Glen Davis take the first winnings of the day on ‘Shiffy’.  This welcoming venue with first class facilities relaxes riders and horses giving confidence demonstrating ability which saw Julie-Anne Lyttle on ‘Red Rock Supreme’ and Alison Crothers on ‘Roxy’ take equal first in the 90 cm class.  The course then adjusted for the 1.0 m class then saw Julie-Anne Lyttle on ‘Red Rock Supreme’ stand once again in poll position with Alison McLean on her super horse ‘Shilow Natal’.  The 1.10 m class saw some awesome rounds of jumping with Courtney Hamilton on ‘Buddy’, Alistair Barr on ‘Colt Forty Five’ and Alison Crothers on ‘Keko’ claim their winnings.  As the show moved to the 1.20 m class Alison Crothers then took the honours of first place on ‘Keko’.  Well done to everyone and welcome everyone to our next Unregistered Horse Shows scheduled for Saturday 7^th February, Sunday 22^nd February and Saturday 28^th February at 10.00 am, 80 cm – 1.30 m.  Connell Hill has a host of shows scheduled over the next few weeks including Working Hunter, Dressage, TSR Working Hunter clinic with Carolyn Whiteley on Friday 13^th and Saturday 14^th February, this could be your ‘pathway to HOYS’ so book your place with Gillian 078 0317 8009.
