Grand Finale Award For Rebecca and ‘Col’ at Connell Hill
It was the Grand Finale of the Training League at Connell Hill, sponsored by Annaghmore Saddlery, Co. Armagh, and Doagh Farm Feeds, Co. Antrim, on Friday night which saw young athletes turn out in full show attire with ponies dressed for the festive season. This Training Show has been hugely beneficial to these young riders as they embark upon the world of show jumping, the true dedication and, without doubt, pride, which saw immense effort attributed to style and appearance, as these riders took their challenges was most impressive to which Connell Hill welcomes everyone back in 2015. This Grand Finale commenced with the x-poles class with competitors jumping clear to receive their hampers from Annaghmore Saddlery presented by Mrs Claus, who also had the privilege of awarding Rebecca Saunderson on ‘Col’ for full attendance throughout the league. Erin McCartney on ‘Tilly’ then received her hamper for jumping clear in the 50 cm class. The course was then adjusted and the clocks set for the 60 cm class which saw Beth McCartney jump her way into first place on ‘Folly’ with Grace Moore taking a well deserved second on ‘Millie’ and Ashley Kelly picking up third on ‘Jack of Hearts’. The competition then moved to the 70 cm class which saw Natasha McKernan cut corners and turn atop jumps to take the honours of first place on the most appropriately named ‘Star Status’ and Grace Moore so close on her heals taking second on ‘Millie’, with Natasha and ‘Star Status’ then taking first in the 80 cm class.
