Adventure Packed Fun Day at Connell Hill

| December 16, 2014

connellhillSunday at Connell Hill was what can only be described as ‘An Adventure’, as kids, youth and adults all joined forces and had a fun packed day.  Everyone arrived with one thing in mind ‘fun fun fun’, and the day got into full swing with ‘Santas’ Little Helpers – Lead Rein class which saw future young athletes display their riding skills in the saddle creating a most difficult decision for judge, Zoe Logan, awarding first to Rebecca Saunderson on ‘Col’ and second to Lucas Young on ‘Little Blue Beau’.  Next was Mrs Claus Fancy Dress class and what a display this was as riders and ponies proudly paraded the arena adorning the most fantastic costumes with Ana Goodrich on ‘Daphne’ picking up first, Rebecca Saunderson on ‘Col’ second and Ethan The Snowman Ward third on ‘Monarch’.  With the tracks set the jumping began with the x-poles with a full house of clear rounds and it was a magical moment  as competitors lined up for rosettes there was an unexpected guest – Santa Claus arrived in on horseback with Mrs Claus to greet everyone with a full sack of goodies.  Then as Santa made his way back to the North Pole the 30 cm class got under way with another full house of clear rounds with Maeve Carlin then picking up red for a double clear in the 50 cm class.  Ashley Kelly on ‘Jack of Hearts’ and Grace Moore on ‘Millie picked up red ribbons for double clear in the 60 cm class with Grace going on to jump double clear in the 70 cm class.  Picking up red rosettes for double in the 80 cm class were Gaby Morgan on ‘Manninard Sir Ganty’ and Beth Boone on ‘Polly’ which then saw Beth and ‘Polly’ go on to jump double clear in the 90 cm class.  This action fun packed day was not over yet as the ‘Ride and Run’ was still to come; and boy the arena became alive as supporters hollered encouragement as each combination took the challenge with Jodie Creighton and Gaby Morgan on ‘Manninard Sir Ganty’ ran away with first place.  So this is just a taste of things to come with the Final of the Training League Show on Friday night, 19th December, and the Xmas Working Hunter Show on Saturday 20th December, horses at 10.00 am ponies at 2.00 pm in Memory of James Wray proceeds to Chest, Heart & Stroke.  Contact Gillian for more information 078 0317 8009.
