Week ending 2nd November 2014, results Ravensdale Lodge Equestrian & Event Centre.

There was great excitement at Ravensdale Lodge on Sunday 26th October as the centre played host to its annual Bumper Halloween show. The mild weather did not deter the yearly emergence of ghouls and ghosts as a frightful mob descended on the centre like a scene from the “thriller” video! As heart rates returned to normal and competitors settled down after the initial fright the competition began and the Halloween spirit remained for the duration of the show as combinations went like “bats out of hell” to get their hands on some of the wonderful prizes on offer. Business got underway with the X poles class which was won by Lucy Bell riding Chico, second and third place were picked up by Ravensdale regulars Dearbhla Mc Gahan riding her own Giggles and Kier Gordon riding Taffy. Linda Mc Keown of Makins Horse Feeds, one of the sponsors on the day got her day off to a good start as she watched Molly Mc Goran jump her horse Holly into first place in the 60cm class. Gemma Murphy riding Silverline Lily was second while Alexandra Lee came home third in the class with Sammy. The Haire & Reel families dominated the 70cm class with Katie Haire coming home first on Thunder while brother Ally rode the same horse to take second place in the class. Erinn Reel finished third in the 70cm class with Fudge while Mum Edel slotted into fourth on her own Robin Hood. Katie O’ Hare was lucky enough to be on holiday for the mid-term break so good Pal Vicky Campbell from Rostrevor took the ride on Blaney’s Boy for her and picked up first place in the 80cm class for her efforts. To top things off, Vicky picked up third place in the 80cm class with her own Dennis The Menace while Harry Haire added to the families trawl of prizes by slotting into second place in the class and winning a nice Ravensdale Lodge saddle pad for his efforts. The next two classes, the 90cm & 1m classes belonged to talented young rider, Orla Mc Gowan as she won both classes on hers lovely grey gelding Manus Boy. Linda Mc Keown piloted her own Branchfield Boy this time to take second in the 90cm class while Harry Haire was on hand again to take third place with Gunner. Second in the 1m class went to Jenny Mc Leigh with Kerry while Michael Graham slotted into third place with A matter of fact. All in all it was  great day of fun filled competition with a treasure trove of prizes which included signature Ravensdale Lodge rugs and saddle pads, Horse First & Botanica International product bags as well as vouchers from Mackins Horse Feeds and prizes from Moorhill Saddlery. There were spot prizes given out for the most “spooktacular” fancy dress outfits which were plentiful on the day. It was the last but one “Bumper Bank Holiday” show of the year at Ravensdale Lodge with the final one set to be held over the Christmas period, details to follow.
