‘Zoe’ Sets The Buzz For The SJI Horse League at Connell Hill

Saturday the sixth week of the Autumn/Winter SJI League at Connell Hill welcomed competitors as they jumped indoors over first rate tracks where stride coupled with turns to meet each fence gave the primary result of a double clear round.  Riders walked the colourful tracks oblivious to the chill as they made their decisions as to how to ride their majestic steeds over these tracks each hoping to achieve their target.  The show began with the 80 cm class and consequently set the buzz for the rest of the day when Audrey Hunter pulled out all the stops and jumped, her own young mare, ‘Cushnahans Zoe’ very stylishly double clear.  David Taylor happily travelled home to Castledawson after successfully claiming double clears on young novice horses, ‘Furisto Girl’ owned by Anthony Wright and ‘CJO Curiosity Lux’, owned by Trevor Overend, in the 90 cm class.  The world of ‘show jumping’ is one sport where competitors set their sights on getting maximum points so with the course set and ready, gliding over the track Carla Overend on her own gelding ‘CJO Max A Million’ and Alicia Temple, on Adeline Temples mare’, ‘Chocolate Glider’, picked up their well earned points in the 1.0 m class and after viewing the 1.10 m class Carla went on to pick up yet more points in the 1.10 m class with Julie Steel on her own ‘Wellview Lenny’ amongst the double clears.  The 1.20 m class saw some very athletic rounds as sure footedness aided by the superb surface gave a double clear for Katie Lyttle , on Patricia McAuley Stanage’s mare, Dickson’s Dream’.  Echoing the previous class  Suzanne Posnett, on Beth Armstong’s gelding, ‘Orchard Echo’ then won the classic 1.30 m class.  Three weeks remaining to qualify before the final on Saturday 29^th November.
