Exciting week of finals at Ravensdale Lodge
Week ending 21st September, results Ravensdale Lodge Equestrian & Event Centre.
Following on from the excitement of the recent Autumn Grand Prix show weekend, last week saw the finals of the short six week summer / autumn run of shows at Ravensdale Lodge with 5 different disciplines up for decision throughout the week. First up was dressage on Tuesday evening where Noel O’ Callaghan riding Mr Sox and Stephanie Scroggie riding Tynan Wonder who were separated by only one point in class 1 coming into the final could not be divided on the night, judge David Patterson awarding both riders a score of 65.65%. O’ Callaghan’s point advantage going into the final proved to be the winning of league and final in class 1 on a count back. Jane Richardson from Slane began her run of good results over the week by winning the league in class 3 with her skewbald mare Zanadoo while Anne Mc Farland won the class 3 final on the night with her own Flo. Clare Murtagh put in a strong performance to claim a league and final double on board Mia. Wednesday saw the final of the SJI registered show jumping leagues with horses up first at 11am where Jane Richardson picked up where she had left off on Tuesday night with Zanadoo by winning the 80cm final beating daughter Sarah Richardson into second place with Ballenteskin Superstition. The tables were turned in the 90cm class final as Sarah Richardson won the class riding her second horse, Red Square 8. Jane had to settle for fifth in the class while Sarah slotted Ballenteskin Superstition into the prize money in sixth place. Carlingford rider, Conrad Mc Guinness was second in the class with his own Creevagh Ferros Diamond, Karen Mc Leigh was third
with her own Slievena Slat and Lynn Patterson was fourth with her ever reliable Cujo. Drogheda auctioneer, Fintan Sullivan began a run of good form by winning the 1m class with The Sweeper, a horse he bought from Ravensdale native Mick Mc Aleese to jump in amateur competitions. Janine Farrell was second in the class with Blackmoor Heather, Pauline Twaddell was third with Cavalier Cruise C, fourth place went to another of the Mc Leigh horses, this time Mary with Frank Mc Leigh’s Melia Barcelo, fifth place went to local rider Mary Curtis with Painted Cavalier while Eileen Duggan slotted into sixth place with her own Libero Flight. Pauline Twaddell moved up a couple of places by winning the 1.10m class with Cavailier Cruise C, Sinead Boyd was second in the class with Drumrankin Lady Lux, Melia Barcelo and Mary Mc Leigh slotted into third place while The Sweeper finished up fourth in the 1.10m class under Fintan Sullivan. Anita Doherty capped her recent return to action at Ravensdale Lodge’s Autumn Grand Prix weekend show by winning both the 1.20m & 1.30m classes with Fitz.
Friday evening saw a great turnout of combinations for the final of the Mackins Horse Feeds horse & pony training league final. With only two appearances to qualify, there were numerous combinations in each class qualified to jump against the clock in the final. Ava Watters riding Ravensdale Lodge’s Womble won the X poles league and final, while her aunt, Sandra Cumesky did the league and final double in the next class, the 60cm with Michael James. Spaces at the top of each league were extremely tight with a number of combinations in with a shout of winning, which meant that whoever prevailed on the night won both league
and final as with the first two classes. The next two leagues and finals were won by Ciara Russell with Misty (70cm) and Sean O’ Brien with Sally (80cm). The only class on the night to buck the trend was the 90cm class, the final being won by Warrenpoint rider Sinead young with Jacobi and the league being won by Dundalk rider Emily Molloy with Ravensdale Lodge’s Ebony. Megan Carroll completed the league & final double in the 1m class with her own Bob. Shanie Murphy was the winner of the 85cm class final on Saturday in the arena eventing league with Kilbeg Tommy while Nadine Mc Connon and Santana won the league. Kate Kenwright and Marley were the big winners on Sunday in the 85cm class of the cross-jump series final.
