Events back with a bank at Ravensdale Lodge
Week ending 17th August 2014, results Ravensdale Lodge Equestrian & Event Centre.
The short six-week summer / autumn schedule of shows kicked off with a bang this week at Ravensdale Lodge as large numbers travelled to the popular north Louth venue to take part in the varied range of events which commenced this week. Competitors were eager to get back into action after the two week break either side of the Dublin Horse Show which concluded last Sunday. While the break was appreciated by everyone, not least the hard working staff at Ravensdale Lodge, all were happy to be back doing what they do best. Dressage was the curtain raiser for the seasonal six week run on Tuesday 12th August and judge David Patterson did an excellent job in keeping proceedings moving, getting through the large entry and making sure that everyone was judged and on their way home before daylight faded. Outdoor dressage continues weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6pm until Tuesday 16th September and weekly tests can be found on the Ravensdale Lodge website. Entries for both SJI leagues were good on Wednesday 13th August despite Millstreet being on all week, pony classes in particular were strong on Wednesday evening. These SJI registered show jumping leagues continue weekly to Wednesday 17th September with modified horse classes from 80cm to 1.30m commencing at 11am and the usual 128cm, 138cm and 148cm pony classes which are all modified commencing at 5.30pm.
These show jumping courses remain open for schooling on Thursday and Friday before the Mackins Horse Feeds outdoor horse & pony training league commences at 5pm. There are 7 competitive classes with weekly class prizes from X poles to 1.10m and as there are large entries in this show competitors are asked to arrive early. This league continues weekly until Friday 19th September. Arena eventing is another popular competition at Ravensdale Lodge and this event retains its Saturday afternoon slot from 2pm for the 70cm class which is followed by the 85cm class at 3pm and finally the 1m class at 4pm. This competition runs to Saturday 20th September with the exception of Saturday 13th September when the centre will be hosting their two day Autumn Grand Prix weekend show. The weeks competitions concluded with cross-jump on Sunday 17th August and this series is set to continue weekly, with the exception of Sunday 14th September, to Sunday 21st September. The scheduled start time for this competition is 12pm for the 1m class which is followed by the 85cm class (not before 1pm) and the 70cm class (not before 2pm). All facilities are available to hire through the office and results from all competitions throughout the week can be seen below.
