Results week ending 27th July 2014, Ravensdale Lodge Equestrian & Event Centre.

It was a week dominated by finals at Ravensdale Lodge as the busiest run of shows at the centre drew to a close last week. The twelve weeks from end of April is the most intense of the show year at Ravensdale Lodge with five leagues running concurrently. Sandwiched between these leagues there are seven national events with three RDS qualifiers, National Grand Prix weekend, FEHL & Summer Derby show attracting combinations from around the country. The six league finals which took place through the course of last week also drew combinations from far and wide as 27 individual classes were up for decision with both league and final winners to be crowned.

The finals started on Tuesday evening with four dressage leagues up for grabs, while Wednesday saw the SJI registered finals for both horses and ponies. Friday it was the seven horse & pony training league classes that were up for grabs while Saturday the three arena eventing leagues were the focus of competitors attention. Finally, after a long week of competition it was the turn of the popular cross-jump series to draw the curtain on the twelve weeks of competitive action in which countless rosettes, saddle pads, trophies, prize fund and many other product prizes were given out. At the last count over 70 saddle pads had been handed out over the course of the twelve weeks which, if laid flat would cover an area the size of some celebrities bedroom!! There were far too many great performances throughout the week to mention but a roundup of all league & final winners can be seen in the results section below.

So with one run of shows completed show organisers are looking forward to a short break before the next series, which will be the traditional short six-week summer / autumn run of shows between the middle of August and the end of September when everything moves indoors again for the year. With the sizzling weather of the past week it is difficult to even contemplate an indoor season but it will come sooner that we all want. It was not only the weather that was red hot this week at Ravensdale Lodge but also the competitive action as combinations competed in hotly contested class finals throughout the week. The centre is to host the final “Bumper” bank holiday show of the summer next Sunday 3rd August from 11am before signing off for a short break either side of the RDS Dublin Horse Show. There will be the usual jumping classes for horses and ponies from X poles to 1.10m and the usual array of fantastic prizes on offer at this show courtesy of Ravensdale Lodge, Mackins Horse Feeds, Botanica International, Horse First and Moorhill Saddlery. All are welcome to join in what is sure to be an exciting day of fun competition. Meanwhile the six-week summer / autumn schedule of events at Ravensdale Lodge can be found on the centre’s website, www.ravensdalelodge.com or through the office.
