Thunder at Connell Hill’s Training Show
Connell Hill welcomed competitors to jump tracks in the sweeping scenic view of the outdoor arena as the heat of the day could still be felt long into the evening. Even though this show is ‘training’, fun and enjoyment is very much incorporated into this making schooling, training, discipline all an enjoyable experience therefore relaxing riders which has the knock on effect of then relaxing their horse. The show commenced with the 50 cm class with clear rounds for Myah McLean on ‘Thunder’, Alex McMaster on ‘Lady’ and Hannah Woolsey on ‘Sweet As Candy’. The 60 cm class commenced and the only sound of thunder was the distinct sound of horses hooves as they made their way over the course with Alex McMaster on ‘Val’ and Myah McLean on ‘Thunder’ jumping double clear rounds. A very busy young lady aiming high was Alex McMaster as she jumped double clear on ‘Val’ in the 70 cm class. The arena crew set to work and adjusted the course for the 80 cm class which saw Ciara Heron on ‘QT Blue’ jump a super double clear and Jade Harper on, her super horse, ‘Dollar’ also amongst the double clears. With everyone still having a pleasurable night the show moved to the 90 cm class which saw determination and gusto rewarded with double clears for Catherine McWilliams on ‘Little Wood Clover’, Natasha Henderson on ‘Snippet’ and Gia Trainor on ‘Penny’. Taking the challenge of the 1.0 m claiming double clear was Carole Dinning on ‘Rathcarvaig Cool Imp’ who then went on to claim double clear in the 1.10 m class with Sarah Kinear on ‘Jenna’.
