Lindsey and Jess ‘Top the Poll’ at Connell Hill
Connell Hill welcomed new faces to the Training Show on Friday night which saw a large number of competitors take the opportunity of jumping tracks in the outdoor arena. These well designed colourful tracks encouraged the novice horse and were an advantageous boost to riders confidence. If you are bringing on a new horse, introducing one to show jumping or indeed not only getting back in the saddle but competing again following a break this is the ideal show where help, aid and advice is on hand. The show commenced with the x-poles class for up and coming stars with clear rounds for Daniel O’Loughlin on ‘Katie’ and Eva Sloan on ‘Molly’ with Chloe Connon jumping clear in the 50 cm class on ‘Lady B’. The course set for the 70 cm class saw superb double clears for Charlene Ellison on ‘Lexi’ with a new combination displaying horse and riders understanding of one another, and certainly one to watch for the future, Lindsey Cameron on ‘Jess’. Lindsey and Jess then topped the poll with anther double clear in the 80 cm class with Andrew McAuley on ‘Blaze’, Sonia Serramia on ‘Buster’, novice ‘MJ’ ridden by Marie-Clare Bell also amongst the double clears. As this most enjoyable night of jumping was drawing to a close Seaneen McCoy took the reins and expertly guided ‘Hazel Star’ over the 90 cm class double clear.
Training Shows will continue on Friday night, as jumping is outdoor this show will commence at 6.30 pm sharp, X-Poles – 1.0 m classes, where everyone will receive a warm welcome with café facilities for hot and cold drinks/snacks.
Final of the 5 Week May SJI Horse League on Saturday 31st May at 10.00 am, classes 80 cm – 1.30 m, competitors to have jumped at two league dates to qualify for this final, competitors not qualified may still compete.
Jumping Derby Show on Sunday 8th June at 10.00 am for horses and ponies, classes 60 cm – 1.0 m.
Cash Jumping Ireland Show on Saturday 14th June at 10.00 am, classes 60 cm – 1.30 m, this show is designed for all show jumpers whatever level, providing fair competition for all. For more information on Cash Jumping or to register go to www.cashjumpingireland.com
Summer SJI Horse League commences on Thursday 5th June at 10.00 am, classes 80 cm – 1.30 m. Show Dates: Thursday 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th June, 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and Final on Thursday 31st July.
