Connell Hill Hands Out Cash for Speeding

| May 23, 2014

connellhillWhat an end to a glorious week filled with equine shows/classes where competitors, giving it their all, competed or showed to their utmost to attend the Cashjumpingireland show at Connell Hill.  This show saw competitors arrive in full show attire to jump courses designed, by Mr William Brown, who took full advantage of this spacious arena designing colourful quick decision making tracks offering the opportunity of breaking the speed barrier jumping against the clock.  This was a most adrenalin busting show as spectators viewed some most amazing rounds of fast forward technical thinking as corners were cut in amazing times shaving fractional seconds of the clock.

The first presentation of this show was to Tori Jewess on ‘Teeshan Lad’ admirably winning the 60 cm pony class.  It was then stars in your eyes as the pilgrimage of the 70 cm class got under way with, the pony section seeing, Beth Boone taking first place on ‘Dundeane Starlight’ and Laura McKay taking second on ‘Mount Caulfield Pilgrim’ with Mark Morrison winning the horse section on ‘Donogue Clover Lad’.  Beths’ winning streak did’nt end as she then took the 80 cm pony section on ‘Jackies Princess’ with Ian Moore taking the honours of first and second place in the horse section on ‘Harley Quin’ and ‘Femme Fatale’ with Gayle Morrison leaping into third on ‘Beechmount Smurf’.  Ian than had another very successful win in the horse 90 cm class on ‘Harley Quin’ with Grace McGarry tight on his heals taking second on ‘Tutuankhamun’, Keith McDonald third on ‘Beechburn Lass’ and Melanie Moorhead fourth on ‘The Doctors Wife’.  The pony 90 cm class saw Tyrone Flanagan wave the speed cameras goodbye as he zoomed over the course winning on ‘Vinny’ with Shannon Livingstone taking second on ‘Tilly’.  Picking up points for speeding was the last thing on these competitors minds as they set sail over these tracks, in fact it was ‘speed means cash’ and none more so than the 1.0 m class which saw Georgia Kelly win the pony section on ‘Mystery Boy’ with Victoria Surgeanor take a most deservedly second on ‘Lenamore Tasmainian Taz’.  The horse section was admirably won by Melanie Moorhead on ‘Lady Pheonix, Karl Kee took second on ‘Dullerton Gold Girl’ and Dean Cotton third on ‘Coolda Castaway’.  With second place under his saddle Karl then went forward to win the 1.10 m horse section class on ‘Dullerton Gold Girl’ with Lucy Lamont taking second on ‘Mellow Gold’.  The 1.20 m and 1.30 m horse classes were controlled by Mark Harley confidently winning both classes on ‘Tampa’.

Thank you to Mr William Brown for the challenging tracks, Mr David Greene for judging, helpers and of course you the competitors without whom this show would not have been the enjoyable successful day it was and lastly well done to everyone for competing and hope to see you all back for our next Cashjumpingireland Show on Saturday 14th June at 10.00 am.
