Here Comes Summer at Lessans

| May 14, 2014

lessansThere’s lots coming up at Lessans Riding Stables, Saintfield, this summer, so why not come along and join in the fun!

First up is a Combined Training day next Sunday 18 May, from 2pm. Show off your elegance and control, then your bravery and agility with a dressage test followed by a round of showjumps. The dressage test you’ll be judged on is the BHS Horse Trials B test, which is available to download now from the Lessans website (www.lessansridingstables.com). You can then jump a round at either 60-70cms or 70-80cms (or higher upon request). If you don’t fancy tackling the dressage, there’ll be clear round jumping available from cross-pole height upwards; or alternatively, if you don’t want to jump you can also be judged on your dressage test alone.

Following that on the calendar is the Lessans Riding Club hack and BBQ on 24 May; and on 1 June there will be a Working Hunter Derby making great use of the new Lessans WH obstacles. A second WH Derby will take place on 22 June, followed by a fantastic Two-Phase Event on 29 June, featuring the brand new water complex…!

Jumping for Gold will make a welcome return to the yard on 6 and 20 July; and the ever-popular Kids Summer Courses will take place on 2-4 July, 28-30 July and 4-6 August. These three-day courses will teach your children everything they need to know about riding and pony care. Group riding lessons will be tailored to various ability levels, while practical pony care sessions will equip the kids with some invaluable knowledge and skills. Of course, there’ll be plenty of fun too! Each three-day course costs £100 per participant. This summer, there’s also the option of ‘Own a Pony’ days, where kids can experience what it would be like to look after their favourite four-legged friend. Get those grooming kits and treats ready!

Finally, there will be an Under 12s show on 10 August featuring classes such as First Ridden, Lead Rein, Family Pony, as well as assisted and unassisted showjumping classes and pony games.

For more information on any of the above, or to book your place on any of the Summer Courses, please contact Philippa Auret on 02897 510141.
