It’s ‘Win Win’ For Sally Mackie at Connell Hill

| May 12, 2014

connellhillThe high profile sport weekend which saw the ‘giro ditalia’ being hosted in Northern Ireland with cyclists undergoing rigorous training to take part underlines the fact that training is a most vital aid in any sport and none more so than the athletes who compete on horseback.  Connell Hill received a large number of competitors who arrived on Friday night to take advantage of this opportunity to do exactly that – ‘train’, as training not only up’s the fitness but aids in skills, technique, irons out difficulties and therefore a ‘win win’ situation.  Connell Hill offers all this on a Friday night with the added advantage of a well maintained first class surface in both outdoor and indoor arenas.  This fun family night incorporating training commenced with the x-poles class with double clears for Adam Sossick on ‘Loughview Sweet Delight’, Alex McMaster on ‘Miles’ and Maeve Carlin on ‘Cinders’, it was then red rosettes in the 50 cm class for Alex McMaster on ‘Val’ and Maeve Carlin on ‘Cinders’.  The course was then quickly adjusted for the 60 cm class which saw Jodie Creighton on ‘Loughview Sweet Delight’, Chloe Connon on ‘Annie’, Sally Mackie on ‘Derryhowlugh Boy’ and ‘Mr Jiggly Puff’ all jump double clears.  These double clears under her saddle Sally then undertook the challenge of the 70 cm class and jumped double clear on all her rides, ‘Sugar Supreme’, ‘Barney’ and ‘Mr Jiggly Puff’.  Sally then took the challenge of the 80 cm class and claimed yet another red for double clear on ‘Sugar Supreme’ with Marie-Claire Bell on ‘MJ’, Grace Cordery on ‘Springstein’ and Molly McCavanna on ‘Molly’.  The 90 cm class then saw super double clears for Fiona McRoberts on ‘Tess’ and Seaneen McCoy on ‘Hazel Star’, with a supreme ending to a fantastic nights jumping which saw double clears in the 1.0 m class for Fiona McRoberts on ‘Tess’ and ‘Mary Hegarty on ‘Iky’.
