P&O Ferries Takes Care of Silvia Rizzo and Her Precious Cargo
Bissendorf, Germany – May 9, 2014 – The Italian dressage rider Silvia Rizzo, who is based in Germany, is proud to announce that she has partnered with P&O Ferries to help with transporting her Grand Prix Lusitano stallion Sal in Europe. Last week, Rizzo and P&O joined in agreement where the trusted company will provide all of the ferry crossings for her horse.
In fact, Rizzo will use the expert services of P&O to sail Sal across the English Channel when she leaves for Great Britain later this week to compete in the Royal Windsor CDI3* Horse Show.
Sal (Mississipe-Maia, Golegã) will depart Rizzo’s training facility, Hof Marabunta, on Sunday. Then, he and Rizzo will compete in the invitation-only international show against a star-studded field of 14 other horse and rider combinations. The Grand Prix will take place on Thursday evening, May 15, with the Grand Prix Freestyle scheduled for 24 hours later on Friday, May 16.
“For us, it’s very important because Sal is a frequent traveler, and the fact that such a prestigious company is now taking care of his ferry trips assures me that he can travel safely and comfortably,” Rizzo said.
Not only does P&O cross the English Channel from Dover in the United Kingdom to Calais, France, they travel from Belgium and The Netherlands to the U.K., Northern Ireland to Scotland, and Ireland to the United Kingdom.
“They have experience in transporting horses,” Rizzo said. “They ensure that all horses travel in the right position so they can have enough air. They are also careful to position the horses in such a way so they are not too close to big lorries and they can embark and disembark quickly.”

Rizzo will also use P&O’s services when she competes at Dressage at Hickstead in the United Kingdom later this summer.
“I have traveled with them in the past and I can assure everyone that it’s a first class trip every time, professional services but personal care,” Rizzo said.
