The final of the Nugent Trailer Showjumping League at Castle Leslie took place last Friday evening. The course was a flowing course with challenging jump offs for those taking part in the speed rounds. The first class to take place was the cross pole class with Jack Carragher, Amy McAnerney and Sara McAnerney all taking first place. It was then onto a nail bitting Novice Pony class with just over ten riders who have qualified. Joey Lappin and Twinkle got first place putting in a lovely double clear and a steady speed round, Second and third went to brothers James and Peter Douglas riding Penny and Sandy.
Open Pony seen Peter Douglas take first and second place with his new pony Eddie while Emma Jane and her pony Black Thorn took third place. Novice horse seen a huge entry with local car sales man Enda McKenna taking first place with his steady steed Smokey Eyed Joe and second place went to Castle Leslie student Elizabeth Snelgrove with her mare Molly. It was then onto Open horse and the showjumping battle was between two local riders Francis Duffy and Mathew Wright. Mathew was first to go but unfornately had a couple of poles down, pressure was on Francis and his mare Tilly to produce a double clear.
Francis had four faults then followed by a perfect clear round giving Francis Duffy the win.
