Moorhill Saddlery sign up for summer run at Ravensdale Lodge
Week ending 2nd March 2014, results Ravensdale Lodge Equestrian & Event Centre
In this tough economic environment, where sponsors are difficult to come by, it is a sure sign that you are doing something right when sponsors contact you to say that they are on board for another year. First it was Linda Mackin of Mackins Horse Feeds to say the Newry based feed company were keen to run with the winter /spring indoor arena eventing league which is doing so well at the moment. This was followed up recently when Denise Kelly of Moorhill Saddlery in Newry, who was competing in Friday evening’s horse & pony training league, said that the saddlery would run again with their sponsorship of the Friday evening summer horse & pony training league. “Great facilities & surfaces combined with good sponsors and weekly class prizes is a recipe for success and we are blessed to have them all here under the one roof” stated Niall Connolly of Ravensdale Lodge. “These days, riders are justly conscious about quality & value for money and they are well aware that is what they will get at Ravensdale Lodge. We are very grateful to all our sponsors who, in many cases, do not even need to be asked to roll in behind us and rarely say no. It makes our job of forward planning for events & leagues so much easier when sponsors contact us well in advance of their league . We are delighted that Denise & the team at Moorhill Saddlery are on board again for this summer league which was a great success in 2013, they are great people to work with and their weekly class prizes were fantastic, we are looking forward to working with them again later in the year” he went on to say.
Competitions continued this week with the Crowne Plaza SJI registered indoor horse league on Thursday and this run of shows continues weekly until Thursday 24th April. There are six modified classes on the day from 80cm (M) to 1.10m (M) and the show starts at 11am. Week six of the indoor horse & pony training league took place on Friday where the usual large turnout of competitors looking to add points to the “Smart League” were in attendance. This run of shows continues weekly to Friday 25th April with classes from X poles to 1.10m and a start time of 5.30pm. As mentioned earlier, Mackins Horse Feeds of Newry sponsor the indoor arena eventing league at the centre on Saturday. This popular show, which is also part of the “Smart League” imitative will run every week from now until Saturday 26th April with the 70cm class starting at 2pm, the 85cm class at 3pm & the 1m class at 4pm. Indoor dressage had a break this week due to the first National Grand Prix of the year at Ravensdale Lodge, the O’ Reillys Wholesalers Newry sponsored Spring Tour Grand Prix show. Derry rider Daniel Coyle made it three Spring Tour Grand Prix in a row at Ravensdale Lodge on board Linzi Johnston’s mare Uptown Girl. In doing so Coyle put himself in poles position to retain the league title for a third successive year, a full report of this show will feature in next week’s results.
