Festive Fun at Strule Valley

STRULE VALLEY RIDING CLUB held their annual Christmas Show recently at the RDA, Arvalee, Omagh.  Thanks to everyone who came along to support.  Thanks to Raymond Caldwell for building his usual friendly, encouraging course, assisted by Natasha Gilchrist.  Thanks to Chris Bogle for judging, Emma King & Pearl Donnell refreshments, Natasha Gilchrist, Kealy Roberts, Yvonne Chisholm & Kyle Hayes entries & Alison Donnell, starter & to anyone else who helped in any way.

Thanks also to Peter McBride from Spar for very kindly sponsoring the sweets for prizes.

Young Amy McLaughlin from Seskinore Harriers Pony Club and her fabulous pony Cookie Crisp had a very successful show, jumping double clear in both the 40cm & 60cm pony classes and also winning the prize for the best Christmas fancy dress in the pony section.

Jane Early from Moorlough Riding Club and the ever consistent Ginger Snap were in fine form winning the 80cm open pony class and taking 2^nd place in the 90cm open pony class.

Two more local girls had a very good show – Charlotte Evason & Cruise took 2^nd place in the 80cm open pony class and 3^rd in the 90cm pony class.  Friend Katie Conlon & Brookhaven Prince stood 3^rd in the line up in the 80cm open pony class, then went on to take the red rosette in the 90cm open pony class.

Young Luke Porter & the talented bay Penny made their journey from Donegal worthwhile, picking up several rosettes during the show.

The horses saw an excellent entry.  Moorlough Riding Club were well represented in the horse classes.  Isobel Bell & Luna jumped double clear in both the 70cm & 80cm classes.  Louise Early & the reliable Pilgrim jumped double clear in the 80cm class and took 4^th place in the 90cm horse open.  Gillian Leitch & Silver Skye also jumped double clear in the 80cm and took 2^nd place in the 90cm open class.  Declan Lynch & Lizzy took the red rosette in this class & also jumped faultless rounds in the 80cm

class.  Darren Preston had a very busy show with a number of young horses in each class, & taking 5^th with Cobo & 6^th with Swilly in the 90cm open class.

Adam Short & his horse Henry were winners of the best Christmas fancy dress in the horse section.

Strule Valley would like to wish everyone a very happy & peaceful new year.  Lessons commence on Wednesday 15^th January for 3 weeks with Dale Roberts in dressage training at the RDA, Omagh.  If you are interested, contact Alison Donnell on 82 246652 by Wednesday 8^th January.

Showjumping training commences then in February with Richard Smyth at Ecclesville, Fintona & an Arena Eventing Competition has been planned for Sunday 23^rd February at Ecclesville commencing at 1.30 pm with 70cm, 80cm, 90cm, 1 metre & 1’10.  Everyone is very welcome.  This will consist of 6 showjumps followed by 6 working hunter/cross country type fences.
