‘Cougar’ Gives it All at Connell Hill’s Training Show
Connell Hills’ Training Shows are popular and none more so than last Friday night which saw heavy rain but this still did not dampen the spirit of riders and horses of all abilities as they arrived to jump. These first class facilities are ideal for anyone starting or improving on their career in show jumping as help, guidance and advice is on hand. The ever popular 50 cm class started the evening with young riders and young horses jumping clear rounds. It may have been raining outdoors but the sun shone indoors as Tammy McCammond on ‘Charlie’ and Elle McDonald on ‘Sunny’ jumped double clears in the 60 cm class. There was huge competition as the 70 cm class got under way with Alanna Dunlop on ‘Gem’ and Brigid Delargy on ‘JLO’ taking red rosettes. The arena crew put the fences up for the 80 cm class which saw Beth Boone on her super horse ‘Polly’ and Lucy Hanna on ‘Rock Black and Blue’ and the aptly named ‘Grennstown Cougar’, who just tacked up gave it his all, jump double clears. Nicole Cameron had a very stylish double clear on ‘Tanner’ in the 90 cm class. Well done to everyone.
Training Show for Horses and Ponies continue on Friday nights, at 6.30 pm, 50 cm – 1.10 m classes.
Autumn SJI Pony League 24th November, 1st December and Final 21st December at 10.00 am all usual classes.
Autumn SJI Horse League 26th October, 2nd, 9th, 16th 23rd and Final on 30th November at 10.00 am, 80 cm – 1.30 m classes.
£1,000 Indoor Derby League Final on Sunday 3rd November at 10.00 am, classes 60 cm – 1.0 m. £50 – £500 + rugs to the winners of each class with prizes in kind up to 6th placings. Competitors must have competed at 1 league date to be eligible for prizes in final.
3 & 4 Year Old Pony Loose Jumping on Tuesdays 5th, 12th and 19th November at 7.00 pm
