Nothing ‘Misty’ About ‘Promises’ at Connell Hill’s Training Show
As the Autumn temperatures drop considerably competitors arrived at Connell Hills Training Show on Friday night to keep warm as they warmed up in the outdoor arena to then jump a superb course of fences in the indoor arena. Competitors find this show to be very advantageous to not only improving their own riding skills but also in the schooling of young horses but also in their fitness programme. The 50 cm class started the night off with the younger athletes jumping clear and taking red rosettes which were Elle McDonald on ‘Sunny’, Max McDonald on ‘Jenny Wren’, Jodie Creighton on ‘Timmy’, Oliver Doherty on ‘Trendy’ and Jodie Creighton on ‘Cockey’. It was a rosy night when the 60 cm class got under way as Jessica Curry on ‘Rosie’, David Taylor on, this young horse also named ‘Rosie’ and Oliver Doherty on his multiple rides ‘Trendy’ and ‘Bella’ as they jumped double clears. With the fences going up for the 70 cm class this promised to be a great class, which it was, as the Cunningham boys, Sam on ‘Misty’ and Patrick on ‘Promise’ and Beth Boone on ‘Polly’ when they took it all in their stride and jumped double clear rounds. The 80 cm class saw Kathryn Cameron, on her super horse, ‘Tanner’ jump the only double clear round. Well done to everyone who came along and hope to see you all again next Friday night.
Training Show for Horses and Ponies continue on Friday nights, at 6.30 pm, 50 cm – 1.10 m classes.
Autumn SJI Pony League 24th November, 1st December and Final 21st December at 10.00 am all usual classes.
Autumn SJI Horse League 19th & 26th October, 2nd, 9th, 16th 23rd and Final on 30th November at 10.00 am, 80 cm – 1.30 m classes.
£1,000 Indoor Derby League Final on Sunday 3rd November at 10.00 am, classes 60 cm – 1.0 m. £50 – £500 + rugs to the winners of each class with prizes in kind up to 6th placings. Competitors must have competed at 1 league date to be eligible for prizes in final.
£1,500 Grand Prix Pony Show on Sunday 20th October at 10.00 am all usual classes.
