Mid Antrim Hunt Prepare for Toomebridge Point to Point this Sat 28th
The Mid Antrim Hunt is busy preparing for their Autumn point-to-point at the usual venue of the Higgins Estate at Moneyglass near Toomebridge on Saturday 28th September. This beautiful venue has been used for the point-to-point for several years now and always looks its best at this time of year with the ancient trees starting to show off their autumn colours. The estate is still being used for a variety of activities including rally driving and the filming of The Game of Thrones.
The Hunt is very grateful to the race sponsors, Dennison Commercials, McBurney Transport, Gortgill Service Station, Enviro Care NI, Convery Trailers, and also to Topping Meats for sponsoring the Best Turned Out, the Mr Barry Gibson for the Race Reader, and Wilsons Auctions for the Formcard. They would also like to thank the many businesses who advertise in the race card and sponsor fences. Dennison Commercials have been faithfully sponsoring the race for 4 year old maidens for many years, and McBurney Transport who have been great supporters of the point-to-point are on this occasion sponsoring the 5 year old and upward mares’ race. Gortgill Service Station of Roguery Road, Toome who sponsored a race a year ago are putting their name to the maiden race for 5 & 6 year old geldings and our new sponsors, Enviro Care NI are sponsoring the Open race for 4 year olds plus. Another faithful supporter Convery Trailers, will be sponsoring the 7 year old plus geldings race.
Local jockey William Thompson who rides for Ian Ferguson will be hoping to be busy at his home point-to-point and will hopefully add a few winners to his tally to start off the Autumn season.
The Mid Antrim Hunt are also running a Jump Cross event at Castlehill Equestrian Centre near Ballymena on Saturday 5th October, followed by a Hunter Trials on Saturday 12th October at Andy Hamilton’s farm on the Knockan Rd, Broughshane. There is also a celebration dinner on 4th October to congratulate the Mid Antrim Hunt team who did so well at the Inter Hunt Chase this year in Dublin, so it is an extremely busy time for the Mid Antrims and their helpers who give up so much time for these events. The Hunt is also very grateful to all the farmers who make hunting possible and the hunting season is fast approaching with Autumn Hunting starting soon, then the Opening meet around Halloween.
