Leanne Scoops Success on Dg Hunters Tally at Connell Hill
Saturday saw a large turn out of competitors to jump at the first day of this SJI Autumn League at Connell Hill over a course providing an excellent challenge for competitors of all levels.
The 90 cm class seems to attract a mixture of competitors having fun with their horses, and those producing some upcoming young starlets. Amongst the double clears were Shannon Cole, and Philip Gaw partnering their young ones.
In the 1m class Judith Sossick partnered her reliable mare Loughview Diamond Lux to lead a number of double clears.
When the 1.10m commenced it attracted a bit more noise with those clear in the first phase going against the clock for Alison McClean on her 7yr old mare to win ahead of Kevin Mackey on Robert Lowry’s ‘Big Mick’. Third place went to Judith Sossick on her very youthful looking mare Loughview Diamond Clover.
The 1.20m class entertained the after-lunch spectators with the jumping getting faster. First place went to Kevin Mackey, just before he headed off on a well earned holiday, riding Kathleen Gallagher’s Cruising Lux. Second placed David Taylor on Nicola Garcia’s Americk Anna, and third was John Higgins on Doonaveeragh Camiro.
The final class of the day was the 1.30m won by Leanne Marshall on the Brian Hutchinson owned mare, Dg Hunters Tally. Second place John Higgins on his own KEC Freefalling, while John also picked up third place on In Luck.
SJI Autumn Horse League Saturday 14th, 21st, and 28th September, 19th and 26th October, 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd with final on 30th November, classes 80 cm – 1.30 am starting at 10.00 am.
SJI Autumn Pony League Sundays 15th and 22nd September, 6th and 13th October with Final on 27th October, all the usual classes starting at 10.00 am.
£1,000 Indoor Derby League on Sunday 29th September, Saturday 12th October with Final on Sunday 3rd November at 10.00 am. Competitors must compete at 1 league date to qualify for final.
Training Show for Horses and Ponies continue on Friday nights, at 6.30 pm, 50 cm – 1.10 m classes.
