Connell Hill Jumps Outdoor
Connell Hill opened the gates of the new outdoor arena to the SJI competitors on Thursday, the sixth week of this league. Competitors warmed up outdoors and then jumped a challenging course with a huge variety of colourful fences which looked spectacular in the glorious sun shine. The first class of the day was the 80 cm class which saw Mary Hegarty on Fiona McRoberts ‘Lady Cool Cruise’ having the honour of jumping the first double clear in the new outdoor arena. As the day got warmer and the fences were raised the competition grew but this did not faze Karlie Anderson on ‘Elegant Star’ who jumped a double clear in the 90 cm class and another double clear in the 1.0 m class. The blistering heat did not affect Kevin Mackeys’ performance as he proudly took first place on ‘Legavallons Mac’, second on ‘Big Mick’ and fourth on ‘Legavallons TJ’ with Monica Boyd on ‘Welcome Touch’ taking the third place when competitors went against the clock in the 1.10 m class. Taking the reins and control of the 1.20 m and 1.30 m classes was Shane O’Reilly on Cillfhiachrach Arch’ as he took first place in both classes.
SJI Horse League continues on Thursday 18th July, final on Thursday 25th July, classes 80 cm – 1.30 m, starting at 10.00 am.
Training Show for Horses and Ponies continue on Friday nights, at 6.30 pm, 50 cm – 1.10 m classes where everyone is welcome to come along and socialise with a hot snack, tea/coffee/soft drink from the cafe.
