No Rest at Ravensdale Lodge
With a busy week of finals ahead of them at Ravensdale Lodge there will be no time for a rest at the popular equestrian show and event centre as their Spring / Summer event schedule is due to commence the following week. With 21 classes to be decided between Thursday and Sunday it will be a case of all shoulders to the wheel for everyone at the centre with both a league and final winner to be decided for each class. Thursday sees the final of the well supported Crowne Plaza Dundalk sponsored Horse league with a start time of 11am with the usual classes from 80cm to 1.30m. Horseware Ireland sponsor the horse and pony training league final on Friday with classes from X poles to 1.10m and a start time of 5pm. The arena eventing leagues at Ravensdale Lodge have gone from strength to strength over the past couple of years and since they started numbers have grown with every league. Mackins Horse Feeds Newry sponsor this league and the league final takes place on Saturday afternoon at 3pm. Another discipline to grow in popularity over the years has been dressage at Ravensdale Lodge and this league has been very generously sponsored by the Cemac Group. The finale of this league takes place on Sunday at 3pm.
Wednesday 1st May sees the commencement of the Spring / Summer schedule at Ravensdale Lodge with SJI registered horse & pony leagues, horses starting at their usual time of 11am while the ponies have a start time of 5.30pm. Weather permitting it is hoped to move outdoors to the new all – weather fibre sand arena but organisers have contingency plans and can continue indoors if weather is not good. The course from Wednesday will stay up and is available for open schooling Thursday and Friday for anyone who wishes to school over a professionally designed course of fences. Friday evening it is the turn of horse and pony training and this league commences Friday 3rd April with the usual classes from X poles to 1.10m and start time of 5pm. Arena eventing takes centre stage on Saturday once more with the four usual classes of 60cm, 70cm 85cm & 1m and a start time of 12pm and this course will remain up for open schooling on Sunday. Event riders should take note that the dressage league which commences on Sunday 5th May is due to be run on the superb all – weather grass arenas at Ravensdale Lodge. With most if not all Eventing Ireland dressage tests being held on grass this is the ideal opportunity to tune up in advance. The fact that the arena eventing course is open for schooling will also appeal to event riders as they might like to take the opportunity to school over the course which is ideal for novice or young horses. There is something for everyone in this new schedule of events and preparation is well under way to welcome new and existing customers to the centre, all that is needed now is some good weather!
