‘Lenny Chasing the ‘Moonshine’
As the end of this league approaches with the final on Saturday 27th April, Connell Hill enjoyed a fantastic turnout of competitors, many of which had multiple rides. Mr Will Crean designed a course of fences set once again to encourage the younger horses and introduce them to their future as show jumpers. Then as the day progressed Wills’ courses became progressively more technical, testing the riders skills and providing opportunity to bring out the full potential of each horse. Fiona Thompson on ‘Curolea Roni’ and ‘Curolea Mika’ benefited hugely from these courses as they had double clears in both the 80 cm and 90 cm classes. On his first show of 2013 Thomas Compton on ‘Daingeann Sunday Spirit’ produced an exhibition of jumping to finish double clear in the 1.0 m class.
As the stop watches were set to go for the next classes the 1.10 m class saw this superbly matched team, trained by Mr Will Crean, Julie Steele on ‘Wellview Lenny’ confidently win with Lynda Elliott on ‘Instant Return’ slotting into second place and Kevin Mackey on ‘Legavallons Mac’ picking up third place. The adrenalin rose for the 1.20 m class with Christopher Megahey on ‘Rickamore Royal’ rocketing into first place, Kevin Mackey on ‘Legavallons Moonshine’ second place and Simon Scott on ‘Carnoneybridge Sister Kate’ winning third place. To end a day of great sportsmanship and enthusiastic jumping the 1.30 m class had high competition but there was no stopping Kevin Mackey on ‘Legavallons Moonshine’ when they won for the second week in a row with Simon Scott on ‘’Carnoneybridge Diva’ leaping into second place and Paul Caves on ‘Quinten’ going home with third place.
