TIPPERARY’S Greg Broderick maintained his excellent recent form, winning the latest round of the Pegus Leinster Summer Tour at South County Dublin Show, which was held at Coilog EC near Naas in Co Kildare.
Broderick’s victory came aboard the Noel Cawley owned mare Rincarina, with the pair finishing almost two seconds faster than their nearest rivals. Thurles born Broderick is set to make his Aga Khan Nations Cup debut later this week, having been selected as part of Robert Splaine’s five man squad for the Furussiyya decider at the RDS on Friday, where he will partner MHS Going Global.
It was a Tipperary one-two at South County, with Nenagh’s Liam O’Meara finishing as runner-up with Realt Na Carrig, a pairing who have also impressed this season in the Munster Grand Prix league.
Catherine Thornton filled two of the top six places, finishing third with Milano while she also took sixth spot with Lowhill Glenard Lad. Capt Michael Kelly and Mullentine Loughgall finished fourth while Declan McEvoy and Moon Zappa came home in fifth place.
Nicola FitzGibbon and Castleforbes Paddington remain on top of the Pegus Leinster Summer Tour league table, with the series now taking a break for the Dublin Horse Show and Millstreet International.
