Lucy Hamilton Touches Base at Connell Hill’s SJI Summer Horse League

Competitors enjoyed jumping tracks at Connell Hills SJI Summer Horse League on Thursday designed by Nigel Jess, demonstrating rhythm and control in the outdoor arena which was breath-taking as the sun sparkled off the colourful fences which utilised this vast expanse.  Judge, Katy Saunders got cracking as the first competitors warmed up in preparation for their challenge which saw the first double clears of the day claimed by lady riders, Ursula Bamford from Carrickfergus on ‘Rivero’, Pauline McKeown from Randalstown on ‘Touludo’ and Victoria Nelson from Antrim on ‘Jazz Black Jack’ in the 80 cm class.  These ladies on their magnificent steads then went on to claim double clears in 90 cm class.  And with not a cloud in sight only beautiful blue skies and 1.0 m class got under way with Christopher Adger from Ballymena jumping a very well controlled supple double clear on ‘Chicago Blues’. This most charming day was certainly well received by Nigel and the arena crew as they adjusted the course for the 1.10 m class which saw Nuala McNally from Carryduff jump a most energetic double clear on ‘Song of Charm’.  With the afternoon moving on and the heat rising Lucy Hamilton from Ballyclare then touched base with a double clear on ‘Down Stream’ in the 1.20 m class.

This League will continue next Thursday at 10.00 am, classes 80 cm – 1.30 m, competitors to jump at four legs to qualify for the final on Thursday 30^th July.
