Summer Fun at Gransha

The Derby Arena at Gransha Equestrian Centre played host to the fourth and final Derby competition held on Sunday 28th June before action resumes in the Antwerp Arena and grass cross country field on Wednesday 1st July. Madison Diamond returned to her winning ways by taking the honours in the senior 70cm class with Paulene Foster. Hot on her heels was Kate Robinson riding Harry to 2nd and Rachel Crawford on Oscar into 3rd place. Jumping off against the clock to decide 4th place was Karen Jeffrey and Lindsey McMullan. Junior produced the faster time for Karen to take 4th while Lady was slightly slower and Lindsey had to settle for 5th.

It was lovely to see two well presented junior riders in the 80cm class who sailed around the challenging track and gave both their ponies a great ride. First place went to Lara Kelly and her beautiful coloured pony Rex while second place was awarded to Regan McKee and Chleo. Leanne McNamara and Sorcha produced the only clear in the senior section to take the top spot. Rachel Irwin and Camero tipped one pole to take 2nd just ahead of Gail McKie and Dave the Cob who slotted into 3rd.
Keeping it in the family in the over 50s category, it was the turn of Hester Kelly, grandmother of Lara who produced a foot perfect clear round to win the class. Valerie McKie, who has campaigned her lovely grey mare Song of Sixpence over all four of the weeks had to settle for 2nd place. Many thanks to everyone who has supported these Derbys.
