Burgess Pathway To Success At Connell Hill’s SJI Horse Show
A bright sunny Thursday welcomed competitors trotting over to Connell Hill for the third leg of the Summer SJI Horse League Show where riders are required to jump at four league dates to qualify for the final on Thursday 30th July. Course Designer, Colm Quinn, utilised the spacious outdoor arena where he designed colourful tracks requesting control with stride precision which was aided by the meticulously maintained surface. The very talented Emily Turkington, from Cookstown, took the first double clear of the day on, John Fees’, ‘Quanabelle Z’, with Emily then amongst the double clears on her own mare, ‘Miss Hilltop Clover’ in the 1.0 m challenge. The track then set for the 1.10 m challenge competitors walked and prepared, all hoping for success; June Burgess, from Comber, undeniably jumped on the pathway to success opening the class with a double clear on her own ‘Galwaybay Echo’, then ‘Harry De Luxe’ and ‘Obos Apollo’. June stayed on this path of success jumping double clear on ‘Harry De Luxe’ in the 1.20 m class. The final class of the day, the 1.30 m class saw the ‘kee’ to success, as Judge, David Greene, set the clocks and got ready for take off with Liam McKee, from Maghera, accelerating winning poll position on, Helen Dittys’, ‘Shanemullagh Lady’, Noel McKee, from Glenavy, take a very proud second on his own, ‘Keeford Sundance’ and Liam McKee stand third on his own ‘LMK Di Caprio’.
