Austin O’Connor Best of the Irish In Tattersalls Three Star Class
AUSTIN O’Connor was best of the Irish in the The Irish Field CCI3* class at Tattersalls International Horse Trials today (Sunday), finishing in sixth place on his dressage score of 50.00 with the Irish Sport Horse Kilpatrick Knight.
Great Britain’s Kitty King and Ceylor LAN took top honours in the 10th Anniversary of the event, coming home on a score of 45.90 after lying in second place going into the show jumping phase, where she delivered a clear round.
In the George Mernagh Memorial CIC3*, New Zealander Mark Todd and NZB Campino produced an excellent cross country round clear and inside the time, winning the class with an impressive score of 36.90. In second place was Australia’s Paul Tapner riding Yogi Bear who produced a clear cross country round and finished on 40.00. Top Irish placing went to Olympian Joseph Murphy with the Irish Sport Horse Electric Cruise, who finished in fifth place on 44.8.
Great Britain’s William Fox-Pitt continued his success at Tattersalls today by winning the Eventing Ireland CCI2* riding Ramdam de Mons. The ten-year-old gelding, who is owned by the Fox-Pitt Partnership and the rider, finished on a score of 42.20 ahead of fellow Brits Harry Meade riding Cruising Away on a score of 43.40 and Daisy Berkeley on Strike Smartly on 48.10. Fox-Pitt previously won this class in 2011 on Rolex Kentucky winner, Bay My Hero. Best of the Irish was Aoife Clark riding the Irish Sport Horse Wasting Light who finished in seventh place.
In the Connolly’s RED MILLS CCI2*U24, Great Britain’s Tom McEwen took the title riding Joyride on a score of 48.60, Alicia Hawker (GB) finished in second position riding Charles RR on a mark of 53.70 and the winner also took third spot riding Staff des Champs on 54.00. Ireland’s Michelle Kenny finished in fourth place riding Eurelia A.
Tattersalls International Horse Trials was run in conjunction with Horse Sport Ireland.
