The Pegus Leinster Summer Tour moved to Barnadown in Co Wexford on Saturday, where Co Kilkenny riders filled the top two places, after a thrilling close-fought competition.

At the finish it was Michael Hutchinson who came out on top with the Team Z7 owned gelding Laith. Twenty five year-old Hutchinson had shared top honours in the Puissance competition at the RDS in 2014 where he cleared 7ft 3 inches with Acorad 3 and speaking in Barnadown he commented,
“I am delighted to get this win in the Pegus LST, it was unexpected, I only came back from Dubai on Friday. Laith is a quality horse, Marion Hughes had finished second with him a week earlier at Ballylawn”.
Michael went on to give details of a new job opportunity he will be taking up shortly, “I am moving to Belgium where I will be working for Lieven Van Decraen, it is exciting and I am really looking forward to it. I really enjoyed by time in Dubai working for Team Z7 but it is time for a new challenge. I will be riding some seven and eight year olds for Lieven when I begin and our first show will be at Odense in Denmark, I’m really looking forward to it.”
Another Kilkenny rider, Kieran Carey grabbed runner-up spot with the 13-year-old gelding CTS Peanuts (28.59), a combination who regularly finished in the prizes in the Pegus LST during 2014. Gerard Clarke finished third overall in last season’s Pegus LST and he finished third again at Barnadown with the Andrew Doogue owned Quick Star gelding  Zanzibar V, stopping the clock in 29.01 seconds.
Former Aga Khan Nations Cup team member Nicola Fitzgibbon slotted into fourth with Castleforbes Tina, just ahead of Clem McMahon who finished fifth with the eight year-old Cladagh Iroko, while Alan O Regan completed the top six with the Harlequin du Carel gelding  Electric Feel.
The Pegus LST moves to Ravensdale in Co Louth for the next round of the series in a fortnights time.
