‘Lightening’ Strikes at Connell Hill’s Training Show
As we creep our way out of winter competitors arrive to jump tracks at Connell Hill in a bid to prepare for the forthcoming spring season. The carefully maintained surfaces, in both the outdoor warm up/ cool down arena and indoor arena, give confidence aiding both rider and horse. Niamh McAllister opened the show with a lovely controlled clear in the x-poles on ‘Adonis’, Kim Moore then took control and jumped clear rounds in the 40 and 50 cm classes on her new horse ‘Apple-Jack’. A young athlete with a bright future ahead, Catherine Buchanan, who jumped a striking clear in the 50 cm class on ‘Lightening’ the demonstrated her skill carefully navigating a double clear on ‘Nipper’ in the 60 cm class. With the course then set for the 70 cm class Lauren Carville jumped the only double clear round on ‘Junior’. Caitlin Mann on ‘Verna’ and Samuel Douglas-Brown on, ex-race horse, ‘Harold’ took the 80 and 90 cm challenges jumping double clear rounds. This most outstanding night of jumping drew to an end with the 1.0 m class and what a way to end with double clears for Chloe Hope on ‘Top Cat’ and Samuel Douglas-Brown on ‘Ace’. Well done to everyone and welcome one and all back next Friday night.
