It’s ‘Carry On’ Training at Connell Hill

Connell Hill was a hive of activity as competitors received a warm welcome as they  ‘carry on’ training/schooling and brushing up on skills jumping at the Training Show on Friday night which incorporated a Dengie Qualifier night.  This qualifier show was very well supported which saw riders from Mid Antrim, Tullylagan, Killultagh, Seskinore and East Antrim Pony Clubs demonstrate skilful, controlled and precision riding with real on the edge of your seat stuff during the jump offs as all were eager to qualify for the final at Portmore on Saturday 7^th March.  Mid Antrim Pony Club thanked Connell Hill for their help and support hosting their qualifying shows.  This much fun filled competitive night commenced with Charlotte McAllister take red rosettes for clear rounds on ‘Timmy’ in the x-poles and the 40 cm classes.  The show then moved to the 60 cm class and claiming red rosettes for double clear rounds were Pat McGarry on ‘Crabbswood Comet’ and Alex Byrne on ‘Willow Whisp’.  This was indeed a much captivating show as riders took each challenge with true grit and non more so than the 80 cm class which saw the Reid brothers, from Cookstown, display their talent as Paul on ‘Trick or Treat’ and Fergus on ‘Beech Boy’ jumped their double clear rounds.  The course was then adjusted for the 90 cm class, and with a great future ahead jumping the only double clear was Sarah Wylie on ‘Dolly’.  Well done to everyone, good luck to all those who qualified, and welcome you all back next Friday night to ‘Carry On’ Training at 6.30 pm.
