Week ending 22nd February 2015, results Ravensdale Lodge Equestrian & Event Centre.

After the success of the Pony Spring Tour on Saturday 14th February Ravensdale Lodge plays host to its second national level show in as many weeks. This time it is the turn of the horses when the Spring Tour Grand Prix takes centre stage on Sunday 1st March when there are four scheduled classes, a 1m, 1.10m, 1.20m & 1.35m Spring Tour Grand Prix which is sponsored by Ravensdale Lodge. This show has a scheduled start time of 10am however competitors are advised to keep an eye on the Ravensdale Lodge website and facebook page as this start time may be brought forward if the classes, which must be pre entered through the SJI office are large. The Spring Tour Grand Prix class and indeed the league have been dominated by Derry rider, Daniel Coyle who has triumphed for the past three years with Linzi Johnston’s Uptown Girl. In addition to the generous prize fund on offer on the day there are two very special prizes on offer for the 1.10m & 1.20m classes which precede the Spring Tour Grand Prix courtesy of Crowne Plaza Hotels.  The leading lady rider in the 1.10m class will receive a voucher for an overnight stay with breakfast for two people in the four star Crowne Plaza hotel in Dundalk while the leading gentleman rider in the 1.20m class will also receive a voucher for overnight stay with breakfast for two people. With numbers of riders surfacing with the spring weather increasing combinations are advised to enter early for all classes through the SJI office to avoid disappointment.

It was a good day at the office for Alexandra Mc Cully & Sir Barnabas, the combination gaining the maximum three points in both the 70cm and 85cm classes at Ravensdale Lodge's indoor arena eventing league on Saturday. To top things off Alexandra drew the lucky rosette in both classes to win the class spot prize courtesy of Ravensdale Lodge. Photo: Niall Connolly.

The good weather which has prevailed over the past week seemed to bring combinations out in force as numbers swelled over all competitions at Ravensdale Lodge. Friday evenings horse & pony training league in particular recorded a big increase in numbers competing. SJI registered jumping moved back to its usual Thursday slot last week and this league continues on Thursday 26th February with what will be an ideal opportunity for horses to warm up for the Spring Tour on Sunday. This league show has a start time of 11am for the six modified horse classes from 80cm to 1.30m while the usual 128cm, 138cm & 148cm modified pony classes kick off at 5.30pm. Horse & pony training league continues on Friday 27th February with classes from X poles to 1.10m and a start time of 5.30pm. Indoor arena eventing runs on Saturday afternoon from 2pm for the 70cm class which will be followed by the 85cm class at 3pm and the 1m class at 4pm. The week will be rounded off with the Spring Tour Grand Prix show on Sunday 1st March when we eagerly await to see if Daniel Coyle will retain his title for the fourth year in succession or will a new champion be crowned. Two lucky riders will also leave Ravensdale Lodge with vouchers for an overnight B+B stay for two people in the four star Crowne Plaza hotel in Dundalk as well as the class prize fund, only at Ravensdale Lodge.
