Emerald George Springs Forward at Connell Hill
The topic of conversation is ‘the weather’ at present but despite this there was a fantastic turn out of competitors at this the eighth week of the SJI Horse League at Connell Hill’s excellent facilities. Due to this riders appreciated the opportunity of jumping a very creative course designed and built by Mr Will Crean. These factors all attributed to new faces and indeed new competitors jumping at their first SJI show, which was a very relaxed and most enjoyable day for riders, horses and spectators. It was good to see Ian McCluggage on ‘Muddy Jess’ making his debut at Connell Hill in the 90 cm class and hope to see a lot more of this combination competing at future shows. True to form Julie Steele on ‘Wellview Lenny’ jumped double clears in the 1.0 m and 1.10 m class. The 1.20 m class saw a host of most talented riders jump this course and prove the potential of their horses. As clocks went forward so did John Higgins on ‘Emerald George’ when it came to going against the clock in the 1.30 m class as they sprung into 1st place with Andrea Thompson on ‘Damingo Van Hoef Dingenshof taking 2nd place.
SJI Horse League continues next Saturday, 6th April, at 10.00 am with the 80 cm class and SJI Pony League on Sunday 7th April at 10.00 am.
