Two Dates Remain for Connell Hill Competitors to Qualify for League Final

With two show dates remaining before the final, on Saturday 29^th November, of this Autumn/Winter SJI League at Connell Hill truly dedicated sports men and ladies braved the extremities of the weather.  As the rain began to fall competitors tacked up, mounted and entered the spacious outdoor arena to warm up, both horse and rider, to take their challenges.  These challenges were tactfully displayed in the indoor arena testing the proficiency of both rider and horse.  The show fired off with double clears  in the 80 cm class for Adele Dallas on her own ‘Flaming Felix’ and Brian Smyth on his own ‘Ludo Quarry Clover’ with Brian who then mastered a double clear in the 90 cm class on, Janene Gambles’ ‘Lenamore Master Maguire’.  The show then shot to the 1.0 m class and taking perfect aim Alistair Barr claimed double clear on the one and only ‘Colt Forty Five’.  Not to be outdone Maddison Boyd claimed her double clear with stride precision in the 1.10 m class on ‘William Boyds’ ‘One Shot’.  As the showers continued though-out the day they only dampened clothing as competitors spirits rose in anticipation for the next class, and one young lady flying high with a double clear in the 1.20 m class then go on to assuredly win the 1.30 m class was Kirsty Parke on ‘Aylwin Parkes’ ‘Bayan de la Bouverie’.  So two more show dates, 15^th and 22^nd, before the final on Saturday 29^th November, competitors to jump at four show dates to qualify for the final.

1.10 m:  =1^st Maddison Boyd – One Shot, Philip Gaw – Ardnacashel Coovella, Kirsty Parke – Durgane, Brian Smyth – Iroko Quarry Diamond, Carla Overend – CJO Max A Million

 

1.20 m:  =1^st Gary Marshall – Claudio, Michael Cave – Ballybean, Leigh-Anne  Rea – Corraghoe King, Kirsty Parke – Bayan de la Bouverie, Maddison Boyd – Knee Deep

 

1.30 m ;  1^st  Kirsty Parke – Bayan de la Bouverie, 2^nd Gary Marshall – Claudio, 3^rd Michael Cave – Ballybean
