Week ending 14th September 2014, results Ravensdale Lodge Equestrian & Event Centre.

The sun may be shining and the weather unseasonably good for the time of year but the evenings are really drawing in and a chill is in the air so it is time to think about a move indoors for the winter months. There was a fantastic buzz around Ravensdale Lodge over the weekend as the sun shone brightly, temperatures soared and competition was hot at the centres Autumn Grand Prix weekend show. Local favourite John Floody took the victory and lion’s share of the €3000 prize fund at his home venue with Joanne Attley’s grey Shennick in the feature MSL Mercedes-Benz Autumn Grand Prix. The combination fought off a strong challenge of 6, led by Derry rider Daniel Coyle with Zuidam in the jump off with only 0.76 seconds separating the pair. Results from this and all weekly shows at Ravensdale Lodge can be viewed below and Grand Prix review will follow next week. This coming week see the finals of all five summer / autumn leagues before everything is moved indoors for the autumn / winter season which commences on Thursday 25th September with SJI registered show jumping for horses. This show, which moves back to its usual indoor slot of Thursday, features six modified classes from 80cm to 1.30m and has a regular start time of 11am. Horse & pony training retains its usual Friday evening slot, start time of 5.30pm and range of classes from X poles to 1.10m. Arena eventing moves indoors on Saturday and retains its 2pm start time for the 70cm class, 3pm for the 85cm class and 4pm for the 1m class. Indoor dressage moves back to its Sunday afternoon slot of 2pm, the four weekly tests can be found on the Ravensdale Lodge website and entries can be made through the office. The popularity of this run of indoor shows is well established at this stage as competitors seek the comfort of a roof over their heads coupled with good surfaces for the winter months. Something else that is high on riders lists are the fantastic prizes on offer for these indoor leagues with weekly class prizes, signature Ravensdale Lodge saddle pads & the continuation of the “Smart League” initiative that was so successful and well received last season. Combinations can also look forward to the introduction of new bespoke Ravensdale Lodge rugs which will be given out throughout the course of the twelve weeks of leagues.  The world-class facilities at Ravensdale Lodge remain open for schooling throughout the week for anyone who wants to school a young or inexperienced horse and booking through the office is advised. For further information on these or any forthcoming events at Ravensdale Lodge please contact the office.
